Students Take the Lead at the University of Saint Joseph

The Honors program at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) in West Hartford, CT combines a challenging classroom curriculum with opportunities to broaden intellectual and cultural horizons through being involved in extracurricular activities and taking part in the planning of Honors programs. Over the past year, our Honors SWAT team (Smart Women Achieving Together) has provided a new, hands-on venue for leadership development. SWAT is made up of a group of students who are interested in meeting informally to generate ideas to share with the Honors Council. The SWAT team also coordinates, promotes, and markets events to the entire Honors program. This allows for the promotion of student leadership within this motivated group of women.

From such mundane topics as creating a resume and wearing appropriate attire, to more challenging topics like networking, job searches and preparing for an interview, Honors students often need practical guidance.
