Developing in Honors™(DIH) – See Spotlight Section for Discussions

We have started two online discussion forums in preparation for our Developing in Honors™ (DIH) sessions at the annual conference in Baltimore.

First, take a moment to contribute to the online discussion forum for the “nuts and bolts session” in the Spotlight section in the bottom right corner of the page.

Second, Brian Etheridge (University of Baltimore) has written an essay to start a pre-conference conversation  on the bigger picture surrounding DIH.  Please leave comments.  (All initial comments by a user must be approved by one of the web administrators; this is to cut down on spam in the comment sections. Once your email address is recognized, though, you will be able to comment with little to no delay in the comment appearing. Please include your name and school in your initial comment to make it easier to find in the admin comments section. Thanks!)

We look forward to an engaging conversation as we prepare for the Regional conference in April!

2012 Developing in Honors™

Developing in Honors: Nuts and Bolts

The 2012 Developing in Honors™(DIH) nuts-and-bolts workshop at the 2012 NRHC council meeting follows the practice of the NCHC in that it aims to meet the needs of experienced honors administrators, faculty, and professional staff (defined as having at least one year experience in their current honors positions by the time of the 2012 Baltimore Conference), though others involved in programs at earlier stages of development are also welcome, and encouraged, to attend. At the regional meeting, our aim is discuss topics of common interest as well as brainstorm solutions to unique challenges. The nuts-and-bolts session is scheduled for Saturday, April 14, from 4:30 to 5:45 p.m.

Conference Opportunity – Pittsburgh, PA

Robert Morris University’s honors program (Pittsburgh, PA) is co-sponsoring their 6th annual undergraduate conference, “Intersections,” with California University of Pennsylvania’s honors program, to be held on April 20, 2012 at Robert Morris University.

Presenters will have two options for sharing their research papers: in person at the conference or by video-conferencing.

The call for papers can be found here, and the call for presentations via video-conferencing can be found here.

Research presented can be previously-presented work as long as it was not presented at this particular conference last year, so, it is a prime opportunity for NRHC students presenting work at the April 12-15 conference to share their ideas with a wider audience. It is also a good chance for students whose work may not have been accepted into this year’s NRHC conference to receive a second look from a review committee to get their research to a new audience.

Best of luck to all applicants!
