Northeast Regional Honors Council

President Elect and Philadelphia Conference Chair

Dr. Lori Rubeling

As an Honors Program faculty member and a Professor of Art at Stevenson University, Lori has vigorously participated in her honors program during its infancy and through its re-design by the Faculty Council in 2004. Presently the program is under its second director and its current focus is on growing enrollment and facilitating student leadership opportunities. Her leadership in the Stevenson University honors program has been threefold: Teaching with an emphasis in Curriculum Development and Oversight; Researching and mentoring Outside-the-Classroom Learning Activities; and Participating in its Advisory Council. This fall she will be teaching The City of Baltimore Change Agents, which will give students direct involvement in her research in Baltimore’s Station North Arts and Entertainment District.

As an academic, practicing artist and life-long student Lori has studied, taught, and produced work in a wide range of applied arts disciplines: Exhibition Design, Fine Art, Graphic Design, Industrial Design, Interior Architecture, and Theatre Production. At St. John’s College, Annapolis she read the Great Books in the Master of Arts in the Liberal Arts degree, which she has directly applied to her teaching in art and design studios and the Honors Program. She has exhibited across the United State and has curated 19 professional and student exhibitions. The latest exhibition curated was for the NRHC 2011 Regional Conference in Portland, Maine. You can view the exhibition’s blog by following this link,http://nrhcartwalkexhibition.blogspot.com/

As president elect of the Northeast Regional Honors Council, Lori brings to the Executive Committee a strong suite of community and academic governance experience and project management expertise. Stevenson University co-hosted the 2012 Conference in Baltimore, and Lori contributed her knowledge of the City’s resources for the City as Text program. She is already prepared to carry her NRHC programming experience forward to the 2013 Philadelphia Conference.
